New Polestar 4 SUV revealed

Polestar has expanded its electric car range with the new Polestar 4 SUV, bringing more space and practicality to the existing Polestar 4 platform.

Starting from £54,750 in the UK, the new electric SUV offers up to 391 miles of WLTP range, a 100kWh battery and as much as 1,665 litres of luggage capacity.

Production is already underway, with the first customer deliveries expected during the fourth quarter of 2026.

What is the new Polestar 4 SUV?

Despite sharing its name and much of its technology with the Polestar 4, the new SUV has been designed to offer considerably more everyday practicality.

The biggest visual difference is at the rear.

Polestar has introduced a straighter roofline and more upright tailgate, creating additional luggage space while giving the car a more traditional SUV profile. Full-length roof rails are also included, with a dynamic roof load capacity of up to 100kg.

And unlike the Polestar 4 coupé, the Polestar 4 SUV has a conventional rear window and rear-view mirror.

Drivers can still choose Polestar's digital rear-view mirror as an option, which can provide an unobstructed view when the boot is fully loaded.

How much space does the Polestar 4 SUV have?

Practicality is one of the biggest reasons for choosing the SUV.

There's 530 litres of rear luggage capacity measured to the seatbacks, increasing to 655 litres when measured to the roof.

Fold the 60/40 split rear seats and this increases to 1,665 litres.

Combined with the front storage compartment, the Polestar 4 SUV provides up to 1,680 litres of storage space across the vehicle.

Passengers benefit too.

The more upright rear design creates an additional 2.5cm of second-row headroom, while a larger panoramic glass roof comes as standard.

Polestar 4 SUV range and performance

UK customers will initially have a choice of two powertrains:

Polestar 4 SUV Rear motor

  • 200kW / 272hp

  • 343Nm torque

  • 0–62mph in 7.3 seconds

  • Up to 391 miles WLTP range

Polestar 4 SUV Dual motor

  • 400kW / 544hp

  • 686Nm torque

  • 0–62mph in 3.9 seconds

  • Up to 373 miles WLTP range

Both versions use a 100kWh nominal battery.

For drivers wanting something a little more performance-focused, a Performance Pack is also available, adding features including recalibrated ZF active dampers, Brembo brakes and 22-inch Performance wheels.

How quickly can the Polestar 4 SUV charge?

The Polestar 4 SUV supports DC rapid charging at up to 200kW, alongside AC charging at up to 22kW in selected markets.

That large battery and long WLTP range could make it particularly interesting for company car drivers and businesses where employees regularly cover longer distances.

Vehicle-to-Load comes to Polestar 4

Another useful addition is Vehicle-to-Load, or V2L.

V2L allows energy stored within the car's high-voltage battery to be used to power external electrical equipment.

The system can provide up to 3.3kW of power through a compatible adapter, opening up the possibility of powering everything from laptops and camping equipment to certain power tools directly from the vehicle.

Users can also choose a minimum battery level through the car's display, helping ensure enough charge is retained for the journey home.

A new Camping mode

Polestar has taken V2L a little further with a dedicated Camping mode.

When parked, the system can turn the Polestar 4 SUV into a climate-controlled space, providing access to entertainment, ambient lighting and vehicle controls.

Together with USB-C connections, a 12V outlet and V2L capability, it's another example of manufacturers finding new ways to make use of an EV's battery beyond simply driving the car.

Google Gemini built in

Technology continues to play an important part in Polestar's interiors, and the Polestar 4 SUV introduces Google Gemini as part of its Google built-in experience.

Gemini replaces more traditional command-based voice control with conversational AI, allowing drivers to ask questions and complete tasks using more natural speech.

It can maintain context across a conversation and can also support functions including trip planning and real-time translation.

The cabin retains the minimalist design found in the Polestar 4, with a landscape central touchscreen and separate driver display.

What does the Polestar 4 SUV cost in the UK?

UK pricing starts from:

  • Rear motor – £54,750

  • Dual motor – £60,750

  • Performance Pack – £68,250

Production began in Busan, South Korea during the second quarter of 2026, with the first customer deliveries expected in Q4 2026.

What about sustainability?

Polestar says the new SUV is one of its lowest-carbon vehicles to date.

Its cradle-to-gate carbon footprint is stated as 20.2 tonnes CO₂e for Rear motor models and 21.1 tonnes CO₂e for the Dual motor.

Measures include renewable electricity in battery-cell production, increased use of recycled aluminium and aluminium sourced from smelters using renewable electricity.
